
吴开英,1954年生,海南万宁人。毕业于中国社会科学院研究生院美学专业,研究生学历。1990年在北京大学首届书法艺术研究班进修一年。曾任总参谋部研究室研究员、中华人民共和国文化部社会文化司综研究处、艺术教育司综合处处长等职。现任文化部教育司副司长、全国艺术职业教育教学指导委员会主任委员、国家《规范汉字表》研制领导小组成员,全国艺术考级领导小组成员兼办公室主任,中国书法家协会会员。1991年在北京中国革命博物馆(现更名为中国国家博物馆)中央大厅、2000年在法国巴黎东方文化中心、2001年在广州世贸中心、2002年在广东江门艺术城举办过个人书画作品展。作品还多次参加过国内外大型展览并获奖和被多家艺术馆、博物馆收藏。出版有《标题书法》、《中国书法鉴赏大辞典》、《邓小平文艺理论读本》等专著,在全国性报刊发表书画理论和文化艺术方面论文60余篇。个人传略被编入《中华当代文化名人大辞典》、《中国当代中青年书画300家》、《1992中国人物年鉴》、《2000中国风·杰出人物特集》等辞书。1996年被文化部荣记三等功一次,1999年受文化部通报表扬。

Wu Kaiying was born in 1954 in Wanning, Hainan Province, China.
A Master Degree holder in aesthetics from China Academy of Social
Sciences, Wu took a one-year course in calligraphy in Beijing University
in 1990. He worked successively as Art Researcher at the PLA General
Staff Department; Director of Research Division of Social Culture
of Department, Ministry of Culture and Director of Art Research,
Department of Art Education, Ministry of Culture. He is currently
Deputy Director—General of the Department for Art Education and
Application of Technologies, Ministry of Culture.
Among Wu’s many titles are: Member of the Guiding Commission for
National Vocational Art Education and Teaching; Member of the Leading
Group for drafting State “ Standard Chart of Chinese Characters”;
Member and Director of General Office, the Leading Group for National
Art Grading Examination and Member of China Calligraphers’ Association.
Wu’s painting exhibitions were held at China Revolutionary Museum
( currently the National Museum of China ) in Beijing in 1991; Occidental
Culture Centre in Paris in 2000; World Trade Centre in Guangzhou,
China in 2001 and Jiangmen Art City, Jiangmen, Guangdong Province
in 2002. Many of Wu’s works have been exhibited at important domestic
and international exhibitions, won prizes and been collected by
art gallery and museums.
Wu has published books such as “ Calligraphy of Tturitles ”, “A
Guidebook for Calligraphy Appreciation” and “Deng Xiaoping’s Literary
and Artistic Theories”. He also published over 60 articles on calligraphy,
paintings, culture and arts in national newspapers and magazines.
His brief biography appears in “Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese
Cultural Celebrities”, “ China’s Top 300 Contemporary Young and
Middle-aged Calligraphers and Painters”; “1999 Almanac of the Important
Chinese”; “Chinese Wind 2000: Special Edition of the Outstanding
Chinese”. He was also awarded by the Ministry of Culture in 1996.
